How am I admitted to Tarporley Hospital?

The Hospital normally takes referrals from GP's and the local acute hospitals such as the Countess of Chester and Leighton Hospital in Crewe. Unfortunately we cannot admit children and those patients with behavioural problems.

Most patients live within the local community, but we do consider accepting patients from other areas if requested.

If you are admitted from another hospital or directly via your GP there are no charges made for your stay with us.

What if I only need care during the day time?

The Hospital provides day care for up to 10 people.

Our activities co-ordinator Vanessa Abson has developed a programme of exercises both physical and mental. These are designed to help with the activities of daily living and health promotion. If however, you prefer, there is a 'quiet room' in which you can read and just relax.

A home cooked lunch is provided together with morning coffee and afternoon tea.

The day care operates from 10.00 - 15.00 at a cost of £6.00 per day.

Transport can be provided by one of our volunteers.

If you would like to know more about this service, please contact Sheila Evans at the hospital on 01829 732436 between the hours of 10.00-15.00.

Do the Hospital change my dressings?

Basically, if you are mobile and can get to the Hospital we will do our best to change dressings for you. If you are not mobile and the dressing has to be changed at home, then please contact your District Nursing service on 01829 733193.

PLEASE NOTE:  The Hospital can provide your first dressing.  Thereafter dressings must be obtained from your Hospital/Doctor/District Nurse and brought with you for changing.

This is NOT a walk in service and we operate special clinics with specified appointment times.

These clinics are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 14.00-15.00 and 18.30-19.00.

Your MUST book an appointment through our Nurses on 01829 732436.

We stock most common types of dressings, but if you have been given a supply by either the hospital, your GP or District Nurse, then please bring these with you.

How does the Minor Injuries Service work?

The Hospital does NOT have a fully equipped accident and emergency unit.

We only deal with very minor injuries, and if you have any doubts or concerns about the seriousness of your injury, please go to your nearest A & E department or alternatively telephone the Hospital for advice.

We operate a 'walk-in' type service during normal working hours, but at other times we suggest you ring first to ensure that we can treat the injury you have sustained.
